Shaykh Mahmoud Al-Assal, a native Arabic speaker from Egypt, graduated from the Alexandria Institute of Qirāʾāt at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif with exceptional academic distinction, consistently achieving top rankings in all programs.
He earned an Ijāzah in Tajwīd and the Ḥafṣ narration over two years, graduating with an Excellent grade and ranking first. He then completed the three-year Advanced Qirāʾāt Program (Ten Qirāʾāt Ijāzah), also graduating with an Excellent grade and ranking first.
Shaykh Mahmoud possesses numerous Qur’anic Ijāzāt, including the narrations of ʿĀṣim (2007), Warsh (2010), Qālūn and Abū Jaʿfar (2012), Ibn ʿĀmir (2015), Ḥamzah (2015), and the complete Ten Qirāʾāt (2016), all received from Shaykh Yousry Mohamed Awad. He also holds Ijāzāt in the classical Tajwīd poems Al-Jazariyyah and Al-Tuhfah from prominent contemporary scholars.
With over 13 years of teaching experience, Shaykh Mahmoud has taught Qur’an and Qirāʾāt at major Qur’anic centers, including instruction for non-Arabic speakers online in English, as well as at institutes in Alexandria.
Since 2019, he has served as the Director and Co-Founder of Shaykhi Academy, where he also works as a Senior Instructor. His teaching includes advanced Tajwīd, Ijāzah and Qirāʾāt programs, Qur’an memorization, and Qur’an and Arabic reading courses.
